The Nigerian Communications Satellite (NIGCOMSAT), in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, is calling on early-stage startups and innovators to apply for the third cohort of its flagship accelerator programme. This initiative seeks to empower ventures building space-based solutions or integrating satellite components to tackle pressing national challenges and establish themselves as competitive players in the global space-tech landscape.

A Launchpad for Growth

Participating startups will benefit from a comprehensive support package designed to accelerate their development and market readiness:
1. Expert mentorship from industry leaders specialising in satellite technology, business development, and innovation
2. Capacity-building workshops covering product refinement and strategic development
3. Visibility and media exposure, with opportunities to pitch to investors, ecosystem stakeholders, and key decision-makers.
4. Hackathon participation.
5. Investment readiness training.
6. Live pitch practice sessions and a Demo Day to showcase progress and solutions.

Application Requirements

To be considered, applicants must:
1. Be a legally registered entity with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
2. Have developed a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) or prototype.
3. Demonstrate strong growth potential and scalability.
4. Maintain a functional website or online presence.
5. Present a unique and innovative solution.
6. Possess a capable, committed, and experienced team.
7. Submit a one-minute video demonstrating the developed product.

Call for Mentors & Facilitators

NigComSat is also seeking experienced professionals, industry leaders, researchers, and subject matter experts to support participating startups throughout the programme. Mentors will play a crucial role in guiding founders, strengthening their strategies, and driving meaningful impact across Nigeria’s emerging space-tech ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

Facilitators and mentors will be expected to:
1. Provide both group and one-on-one mentorship to assigned startups.
2. Participate in scheduled workshops and pitch practice sessions.
3. Offer constructive feedback to strengthen products, strategies, and business models.
4. Serve as a trusted adviser throughout the accelerator journey.

Who should apply?

NigComSat is seeking applications from individuals who possess:
1. Proven experience in mentoring startups and leading teams.
2. The ability to commit time to sessions, workshops, and Demo Day activities throughout the programme.
3. A genuine willingness to support founders with guidance and strategic advice.
4. Demonstrated expertise in fields such as Satellite Technology, Telecommunications, Business Development, Product Design, Space Science, Engineering, AI, Agriculture, Finance, Health, Security, and related sectors.
5. Strong communication, interpersonal, and coaching skills.
