Women in Space Kenya, in collaboration with the Association of Engineering Students (Technical University of Kenya), presents our flagship conference, the African Women in Space Conference 2025, scheduled to happen on 27th – 28th November 2025 at Strathmore University, Nairobi, Kenya, under the theme: “Reaching for the Stars for Africa’s Development.”
Conference Objectives
AWiSC 2025 is a platform to ignite innovation, amplify diverse voices and position space sciences and technology as a tool for sustainable development across the continent. The conference also puts a special spotlight on women in space, acknowledging both their contributions and the work still needed to close the gender gap. The conference aims to contribute to UNOOSA’s and the African Union’s Agenda 2063 to ensure inclusive and gender-responsive growth in the continent’s space ecosystem.
Rationale
The space sector is no longer a distant frontier; it is an essential part of Africa’s development story. From using space technology for sustainable development, to exploring careers in the space industry and having conversations around policy, AWiSC 2025 aims to convene up to 500 young professionals, industry experts, innovators and entrepreneurs, academicians, space agencies and students from across the continent, driving this conversation and transformation.
