The South African National Space Agency (SANSA) seeks an individual with the relevant skills, drive, competencies, and qualifications of a finance officer.
Reporting to the Finance and Business Manager, the incumbent will provide accounting support and financial services to all units at the Space Science Programme and Hermanus Facility.
This will include but is not limited to the following duties:
- Finance Administration
- Capturing and processing of information on ERP for the different modules:
- Petty Cash, Creditors, Debtors, Bank Management, Fixed Assets and Journals
- Assist in administering and monitoring the financial system in order to ensure that finances are maintained in an accurate and timely manner
- Maintain the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable systems in order to ensure complete and accurate records of all money
- Provide information for the preparation of the budget
- Assist with general finance queries and matters within a reasonable time
- Capturing and processing of information on ERP for the different modules:
- Accounts Management
- Controlling and processing of Debtors accounts to ensure all invoices are billed according to contract
- Controlling and processing of Creditors transactions and reconciling the invoices to the creditor statements at month-end
- Reconcile and assist with the clearing of Balance Sheet control accounts on a monthly basis
- General Administration
- Ensure effective documentation control through accurate and timeous filing
- Compile source documents according to policies and Delegation of Authority
- Assist and advise stakeholders on finance procedures
- Assist with Reception duties
- Respond to audit requests
The ideal candidate will have:
- A three-year tertiary qualification from a college or university or related
- A minimum of five years’ finance clerk experience
- Report writing skills
- Knowledge of:
- Outlook software
- SAGE X3 Software (will be an advantage)
- Microsoft Outlook
- Internet software
- MS Office suite
- SAP software (will be an advantage)
Please note that the position is a three-year contract position based at the SANSA Hermanus campus in Hermanus in the Western, Cape. Preference will be given to candidates who live within a 20 km radius of the SANSA site.
