Call for Applications: East African Research & Training with TART Radio Telescope

Kenya Space Agency and the University of Cambridge-Africa ALBORADA Research Fund, in collaboration with other partners, invite applications and early-career researchers from across East Africa for the East African Research & Training Workshop on the Transient Array Radio Telescope (TART), scheduled to take place 20–24 July 2026 in Nairobi, Kenya. This workshop will provide participants with hands-on training in radio astronomy, instrumentation, and scientific data analysis using the TART system, and further aims to strengthen capacity in radio astronomy across the region.

Eligible Applicants

Participants from the following countries are eligible to apply: Kenya, Burundi, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda.

Applicants should apply by sending an application to info@ksa.go.ke with the subject title: EAST AFRICA TART TRAINING, with the following documents required in the submission;

  • Statement of Interest (Maximum 300 words)
  • Curriculum Vitae (Maximum 2 pages)
  • For early-career researchers: Brief summary of relevant coursework, projects, or research interests.

Application deadline: 1 May, 2026
