The African Space Agency (AfSA) was established to lead the development of space capabilities across Africa and serve as the central body coordinating Africa’s collaboration with global space partners. The African Union created AfSA to manage the African Outer Space Programme, align member states’ space policies, and establish a regulatory framework, as outlined in the African Space Policy and Strategy.

The African Space Agency (AfSA) is excited to announce the launch of its Logo Design Competition. This initiative invites young Africans aged 18 to 29 to unleash their creativity and design a logo that embodies AfSA’s vision, mission, and influence as a central player in advancing Africa’s space ambitions.

AfSA, established under the African Union (AU), is tasked with promoting space-related innovation, socio-economic growth, and scientific research across the continent. As part of its formal inauguration scheduled for April 20, 2025, during the NewSpace Africa Conference 2025 in Cairo, AfSA seeks a logo that will become a visual representation of the agency’s mission to lead Africa’s space exploration efforts and address critical challenges such as climate change, disaster management, and resource sustainability.

This competition is a call to action for young Africans from all walks of life—professional graphic designers, budding artists, and students alike—to showcase their talent and imagination. Applicants are required to incorporate the African Union’s official colours into their designs and provide a brief explanation of the logo’s meaning and elements. At the end of the selection process, the Agency will select a winner who meets all the eligibility criteria and displays profound creativity that speaks to the African Space Agency’s vision.
