The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) and Sida invite interested participants from scientists in science-and-technology-lagging countries to apply for its research grants applications. The grants are available for individuals and research groups in the basic sciences and collaborative and interdisciplinary research. In addition, the grants may be used to purchase scientific equipment and provide developing world scientists with much-needed equipment and more.
Eligibility
TWAS Research Grant applicants must be from one of 66 science-and-technology-lagging countries (STLCs) identified by TWAS. There are four programmes in total:
- Grants for individuals in the basic sciences;
- Grants for research groups in the basic sciences;
- Grants for collaborative and interdisciplinary research; and
- Grants for maintenance.
Support for these grants often goes to important scientific initiatives in the global South, such as solar cell and water purification research. Women scientists and those working in the United Nations (UN)-identified Least Developed Countries are especially encouraged to apply.
Deadline
All relevant applications must be submitted by April 3, 2024.
