The Global Monitoring for Environment and Security and Africa (GMES and Africa) is about to convene a series of workshops focusing on project implementation by Consortia in the five regions of the continent.
The regional workshops are mandatory activities that serve as exclusive platforms for elevating discussions with partners, stakeholders and users on project impacts at the regional level. They are also designed to engage policy, decision-makers, and other actors in dialogue and networking.
The workshops will feature technical consultations on strengthening data access and sharing practices, promoting the exchange of views among end-users and EO service providers, whilst facilitating seamless communication between consortia partners on how to use EO in support of sustainable management of water and natural resources, marine and coastal areas. In addition, it is expected to reinforce regional exchanges and stimulate the cross-fertilisation of ideas among stakeholders.
Furthermore, the workshops allow consortia to relay their stories and deepen awareness about what they are doing at a project level. This year the workshops will be a defining exercise for the programme as it enters its second implementation phase. Participants will include the Programme Management Unit at the African Union Commission, consortia, RECs, the private sector, academia, and end-users.
