The Department of Physics at Princeton invites top early-career women in physics and astronomy who are interested in careers in academia to apply to the Rising Stars in Physics Workshop to be held on the Princeton University campus from the 15-17 of April, 2020.
This workshop will bring the next generation of physics academic leaders together for two days of scientific discussions and informal sessions aimed at navigating the early stages of the academic career. In addition to research presentations, we will hold panel discussions with Princeton and Invited faculty on issues relevant to academic careers, have opportunities for informal networking with faculty members at Princeton, and set aside time for the participants to get to know each other and form connections that will hopefully persist through time.
Eligibility
An eligible applicant must be within approximately one year of graduating with her PhD or have obtained her PhD no earlier than 2014.
Selection Criteria
A group of 20-25 outstanding candidates will be selected from all applications submitted. Preference will be given to candidates who are considering applying for faculty positions in the fall of 2020.
Accommodations and Travel
Princeton will cover meals and shared accommodations for up to three nights, and reimburse up to $600 in travel expenses (air, rail). All workshop accommodations/venues/facilities are fully accessible.
The 2020 Rising Stars in Physics Workshop is made possible with the support of the Heising-Simons Foundation, as one of a series of workshops initiated and co-sponsored by MIT.
