Register to Attend the Training on AIS Maps

Surrey Space Centre (SSC), in collaboration with the Mauritius Research and Innovation Council (MRIC), invites interested participants to register for its virtual training on “Automatic Identification System (AIS) Maps for Maritime Domain Awareness”. The training is scheduled for January 18, 2024, from 14:00 to 15:30 (Mauritius Time).

Who can Apply

The training is for anyone interested in Remote Sensing and Earth Observation, with particular application to the maritime domain. Local authorities, universities, research centres, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) offices and everyone responsible for safety at sea, ocean health, law enforcement, maritime policies, Exclusive Economic Zones (EEZ) and Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) preservation are invited to register.

What will the Training Cover

  • Introduction to AIS;
  • Technical aspects: AIS components, AIS messages, Terrestrial and Satellite AIS,AIS data and AIS synergies;
  • Future directions; and
  • Conclusion and Questions and Answers 
Requirements

The training sessions will be held virtually. Interested participants must have access to an internet connection and a computer to attend.

Participants must note that to be reached and provided with the link to the training platform, they must register for the training on Eventbrite. All participants who complete the registration will receive a ticket for the event, and the link for attending the online session will be shared later.

Cost 

The training will be completely free to attend.
