SANSA is Hiring a Network Administrator

The South African National Space Agency has an open position within its Network Administrator for a Space Weather Forecaster on a permanent contract at Hartebeesthoek, Gauteng.

Reporting to the ICT Manager, the successful applicant will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and upgrading any software or hardware required to run a computer network efficiently. The IT or computer network may extend to a local area network, vast area network, WLAN, file/database and Webservers, the Internet, and intranets. The successful applicant will oversee the network and communication systems to ensure information flows appropriately within and externally to relevant stakeholders. 

Key Areas of Responsibility:
  • Implementation – Design, implement and maintain network architecture and security safeguards;
  • Network Management – Manage and execute all network security processes and maintain proper reports of all processes;
  • Troubleshooting – Troubleshooting, resolving, and communicating networking issues to other employees, management, and clients ; and
  • Knowledge management – Update knowledge and skills related to networks and document the SANSA network configurations for intellectual property purposes.
Requirements
  • A minimum of a three-year Diploma in Information Technology (IT) or related fields;
  • Five years of experience handling network and ICT security;
  • Certification for Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP Enterprise or Security-certified) essential;
  • Certification for Cisco Certified Network Associate, (CCNA-certified) essential;
  • ITIL Foundation (preferable);
  • Cisco routers, Cisco Catalyst switches, Cisco ISE, Cisco ASA and Cisco FirePOWER;
  • Networking (design, planning, and installation);
  • Routing protocols – MPLS, OSPF, BGP, and Policy-Based Routing (PBR);
  • Computer skills – MS Project, MS Office, Outlook 365, Microsoft Operating Systems, and Linux;
  • Desktop software and server software (installation and configuration);
  • Hardware technical skills, i.e., use of tools and other means to fix/maintain/repair; and
  • A valid driver’s license.
