The South African National Space Agency (SANSA) is looking to recruit a network administrator to its Space Operations programme in Hartebeesthoek, Gauteng. Reporting to the ICT Project Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and upgrading any software or hardware required to run a computer network efficiently. The IT or computer network may extend to a local area network, wide area network, WLAN, file/database and Web Servers, the Internet, and intranets. The successful candidate will also oversee the network and communication systems to ensure information is flowing properly within the organisation and externally to relevant stakeholders.
Key areas of responsibility will include but are not limited to:
- Implementation – Design, implement and maintain network architecture and security safeguards;
- Network Management – Manage and execute all network security processes and maintain proper reports of all processes;
- Troubleshooting – Troubleshooting, resolving, and communicating networking issues to other employees, management, and clients; and
- Knowledge management – Update knowledge and skills related to networks, and document the SANSA network configurations for intellectual property purposes.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
- A three-year bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Information Technology (IT);
- 5+ years experience in the field handling network and ICT security.;
- Certification for Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP Enterprise or Security-certified) required;
- Certification for Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA-certified) required;
- ITIL Foundation preferable;
- Have experience with Cisco routers and Cisco Catalyst switches, Cisco ASA and Cisco FirePOWER and Cisco ISE;
- Design software – e.g. MS Visio;
- Routing protocols – MPLS, OSPF, BGP and Policy-Based Routing (PBR);
- Project Management software – e.g. MS Project;
- MS Office;
- Email software – Outlook 365;
- Microsoft Operating Systems;
- Networking (design, planning and installation);
- Linux;
- Desktop software and server software (installing and configuring);
- Hardware technical skills, i.e., use tools and other means to fix/maintain/repair; and
- A valid drivers’ license.
