Highly motivated black South African students who aspire to become research academics are invited to apply to study towards a Ph.D. in the Astrophysics and Cosmology of Extended Theories of Gravity under the supervision of Professor Peter Dunsby.
The scholarship has a value of R220 000 per annum to cover fees and living costs. Also, each scholar will receive R22 000 for computer equipment and research travel annually.
Successful applicants will be expected to participate in the scientific life of the Cosmology and Gravity Group in the department and will have the opportunity to supplement the scholarship with some teaching and/or tutoring activities.

Shortlisted applicants will be interviewed and expected to deliver a 20-minute oral presentation on a topic of their choice.
