An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate Professor position in the field of Exoplanets within the Astrophysics Group at the Department of Space and Climate Physics (Mullard Space Science Laboratory), UCL.
The successful applicant will be expected to pursue a vigorous research programme to boost the fast-growing exoplanet research environment at MSSL. This includes a strong involvement in ESA’s PLATO satellite mission and a new exoplanet research group led by Dr. Vincent Van Eylen, as well as a strong Solar System research component. Also, ESA’s Ariel mission is led by the Physics & Astronomy department at UCL.
MSSL is the UK’s largest university-based space research group, delivering a broad, cutting-edge science programme, underpinned by a strong capability in space science instrumentation. Our scientific research ranges from cosmology and the study of extragalactic objects to studies of the Sun, the planets and their moons, and the Earth.
Applicants should have internationally leading research records, and we are particularly interested in candidates who can maximize the scientific return from our substantial involvement in PLATO. The candidate will also fulfill a teaching responsibility at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
