The United Nations Office in Vienna is recruiting students to fill internship role(s) for three months with an opportunity for extension up to a total of six months, depending on the needs of the office and the availability of the intern. The intern will work in the Office of the Director, United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA).
The internship is UNPAID and full-time.
Interns work five days per week (40 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.
Responsibilities
Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual’s background; the intern’s assigned office, and the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting in drafting speeches, presentations, briefing notes, talking points, articles, fact sheets, press releases and other documents relating to space activities, the activities of the Office.
- Supporting the organization of different outreach and communication activities and events of the Office.
- Supporting the development and implementation of social media campaigns and related outputs.
- Conducting research and analysis on media, outreach and space-related matters.
- Contributing to updating the Office’s website, including content management and research.
- Providing general administrative support, including preparing meeting minutes.
- Performing other tasks as necessary.

Education
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:
•Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or (c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation; (OFFICIAL PROOF FROM THE UNIVERSITY IN SUPPORT OF ONE OF THE ABOVE OPTIONS HAS TO BE ATTACHED TO THE INSPIRA APPLICATION)
•Be computer literate in standard software applications;
•Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and
•Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
