The GMES and Africa’s North Africa Consortium, in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Manouba School of Engineering (MSE), are hosting an insightful training session on the Dunia platform. This virtual event is scheduled for December 5th and 6th, from 1 to 2 pm Tunis Time. This training is crucial to preparing for the upcoming Hackathon on Earth Observation for Sustainable Management of Natural Resources in Africa, set for December 12th to 13th in Tunis, which will have in-person and virtual components.
During this training, participants will gain access to and learn how to leverage the newly launched DUNIA IT platform, designed by ESA. Furthermore, the training will empower attendees to contribute significantly to addressing the pressing need for comprehensive information to support sustainable water and natural resource management across Africa.
The programme offers an extensive exploration of the Dunia platform’s capabilities. Thus, sessions will cover various topics, starting with an introduction to the service and its free tier, followed by guidance on using the dataset search and download API, navigating the Sandbox environment, and understanding the complexities of scale-out processing throughout Africa. The training items are strategically designed to equip attendees to acquire new skills, engage interactively, and become proficient in utilising these powerful tools.
