Space4Women Mentorship Programme is an initiative by the United Nations Office of Space Affairs (UNOOSA) with the support of the government of Israel. The programme matches experienced mentors in the space sector with women and girls who would like to pursue their studies in the field. This is an important initiative as it balances the gender scales in an industry where women only make up 35% of science students and between 20-22% of the workforce in the space industry.
These figures are a cause for concern. Through participation in this programme, the participant will aid UNOOSA in achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Goals 4 and 5 of quality education and gender equality.
Applications for mentees are open. Prospective applicants should send their CVs to space4women@un.org by 4 January 2023. Please note that applications for mentors are closed.
