AIV Engineer
The company is hiring a junior to mid-level Assembly, Integration and Verification/Ground Support Equipment (AIV/GSE) Engineer to join the team at their Stellenbosch office outside Cape Town. The AIV Engineer will assemble, integrate, test, and commission satellite systems, subsystems, and ground support equipment (GSE), including electronic GSEs. Working closely with design, manufacturing, and quality teams, the AIV Engineer will ensure products meet performance and reliability standards. The role also involves supporting projects throughout development, production, and commissioning to deliver high-quality solutions.
Key Responsibilities of the AIV Engineer
- Integration and Verification of the product’s related components into a fully functional system.
- Involvement at all stages of the development cycle, including designing, developing and improving architectural systems as required.
- Development of verification plans, test procedures, and test environments.
- Execute test procedures and document verification results to ensure system requirements are met.
- Performing scoping for solution development and reporting on plans, progress and issues
- Technical writing and compilation of technical procedural documents
- Interaction and cooperation with design engineers on all technical aspects

- Producing fault resolution and continuous standards improvement through lessons learnt activities.

- Work closely with other engineering disciplines and project managers within an integrated, cross-functional team environment.
- Establish, declare, report, manage and mitigate technical risk.
- Produce and submit deliverables for technical review and product baselining.
- Participate in technical reviews according to the technical review process.
- Perform and contribute to non-conformance and root cause analyses to ensure efficient corrective actions for compliant products.

Skills and Experience Required
- Strong familiarity with Quality Assurance.
- Strong high-level programming (Python/Jupyter preferred).
- Proficiency in using test equipment and software tools for data acquisition and analysis.
- Knowledge of different testing methodologies (e.g., environmental, functional, and performance) is crucial.
- Solid understanding of electronics, instrumentation, and control systems.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Strong experience with relevant test equipment (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes) is required.
- Hands-on skills in mechanical assembly, including the use of tools and fixtures. Understanding of mechanical drawings and tolerances.
- Understanding of configuration management principles and practices to ensure proper tracking and control of hardware and software configurations.
- Ability to document procedures, test results, and technical reports.
Education/ Qualification Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (B-Tech, BEng) or higher degree and 3-5 years of experience in a related role.
- Fluency in English and strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are essential.
- Experience in verification requirements management, product lifecycle implementation, technical writing, and environmental testing in the space or aerospace sector will be advantageous.
- Confident in managing requirement derivation, non-conformance analysis, and critical documentation to ensure mission success.

2. Project Manager
Offer Support to: Satellite Unit, Dragonfly Aerospace
Report to: Project Management Officer
They will oversee projects from initiation to completion, coordinating cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality solutions are delivered on time and within budget. This role involves strategic planning, risk mitigation, and stakeholder management, ensuring smooth execution across all project phases. The Project Manager will be based in Dragonfly’s Stellenbosch office outside Cape Town.
Additionally, the Project Manager will drive efficiency, manage resources, and align deliverables with customer expectations while navigating challenges in a fast-paced, high-tech environment. As part of their mandate, the Project Manager will take full ownership of assigned projects, providing regular status updates to internal stakeholders and collaborating with other project managers to optimise shared resources. They will follow Dragonfly Aerospace’s processes and tools while actively contributing to the continuous improvement of the Project Management Office (PMO).
Key Responsibilities of the Project Manager
- Establish a project management plan as required.
- Develop and own a project plan and schedule that defines the project’s goals, objectives, deliverables, milestones and deadlines, providing regular updates to the project team and stakeholders.
- With input from the Systems Engineers, establish the scope of work.
- Ensure assigned projects adhere to their baselined schedule (time) and budget (cost).
- Define and agree on an appropriate and tailored project lifecycle and ensure all stages and reviews are followed.
- Solicit, track, report, manage and resolve project risks.
- Identify and allocate the necessary resources (people, equipment, materials).
- Oversee resource loading and work with stakeholders to resolve resourcing conflicts of multiple simultaneous projects.
- Coordinate and integrate tasks/activities and clarify project objectives within a multidisciplinary team.
- Provide support, guidance, motivation, and facilitation to the team through the project process.
- Interface, communicate, work with and manage expectations of internal and external stakeholders and clients.
- Establish and maintain project-client contracts.
- Maintain appropriate records and reports as required.

3. Software Programming Engineer
Dragonfly Aerospace is seeking an experienced Software Programming Engineer to join our team. They will be based at the Stellenbosch office outside of Cape Town.
The company’s systems engineering standards are employed on all projects and work assignments. Software programming engineering is practised within interdisciplinary engineering project teams and projects, enabling the realisation of successful and precise technical outcomes that meet the intended technical performance as set for stakeholder, user, and customer needs.
Key Responsibilities
The Software Programming Engineer will be responsible for:
- Designing software as defined by the needs mandated through clients, projects and stakeholders such that it achieves outputs which meet validated requirements.
- Performing software programming design in an efficient, proactive and synergistic manner.
- Maintaining all software developed within the company follows the standards defined by the Software Engineering division or where otherwise approved.
- Designing and implementing software while operating according to its approved Software Architecture, Software Development and other standards as defined by its Centres of Excellence (CoE), within which specific aspects include practices, principles, procedures and supporting structures.
- Producing software solutions for Space and Ground segments of spacecraft engineering, which includes the development, testing, ground support equipment, assembly and integration, and production environments — furthermore, software solutions are produced per project need and required assignment.
Skills and Experience
- C/C++/Python programming (minimum 4 years/working to proficient knowledge).
- Embedded Linux application and kernel driver development (working knowledge).
- GIT (GitLab) (working to proficient knowledge).
