As part of the celebration of World Space Week 2022, which will take place from 4th to 10th October, the Management Office of the National Space Program (GGPEN) is organising training that will take place at Instituto Superior Polytechnic of Technologies and Sciences (ISPTEC), where satellite communication course will be taught to more than 30 universities.
This training aims at providing participants with solid knowledge of the fundamentals and techniques used in satellite communication, including the Fundamentals of Radio Frequency, VSAT Installation and Maintenance Procedures. Furthermore, GGPEN, with the support of its partners, intends to share VSAT kits with the participants to grow the nation’s telecommunications sector.
Space education is one of GGPEN’s priority areas which aims to train and promote the space sector in Angola by transferring technical skills across schools and companies. In addition, GGPEN hopes to generate employment opportunities and spark innovation among Angolan youths.
With this training, participants would also be exposed to the endless possibilities and thematic applications of the Angosat-2 to the country’s sustainable development. An example of this is E-learning: the case of leveraging Angosat-2 to connect schools, universities, and more, with efficient, highly reliable, point-to-multipoint networks that can provide connectivity in even the harshest environments to provide quality education services sustainably, helping massively to fulfil Sustainable Development Objective 4 – Quality Education.
These courses will take place in parallel with other activities scheduled during World Space Week 2022 in Angola. There will be seven events free and open to the public. See the schedule here and participate.
