RCMRD and ESIPPS are Organising a Wetland Vulnerability Analysis Training

In line with the objectives of the GMES and Africa Phase 2, Environmental Surveys, Information, Planning and Policy Systems (ESIPPS) International and the Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD) are organising a wetlands Vulnerability Analysis training. The training will be conducted for 2.5 hours daily, from 10.00 am to 12.30 Pm EAT time.

RCMRD and ESIPPS International develop the wetlands vulnerability analysis tool through a collaborative effort to enhance the wetlands monitoring and assessment using geo-information processing tools and techniques and empower wetlands monitoring institutions and other authorities with capacities to identify the risk thresholds of wetlands ecosystems for intervention and restoration opportunities. 

Target Audience 

The target audience will include research scientists, conservationists, tertiary institution academia, and technical staff from wetland conservation agencies with basic GIS and Earth observation knowledge. 

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this training, participants should be able to: 

  • Apply EO tools and data in Wetland Vulnerability Monitoring and Assessment;
  • Visualise and interpret outputs of Wetland Vulnerability Assessment; and
  • Use the Wetland Vulnerability Analysis tool in wetland monitoring and assessment.

NB: The course will be virtual and delivered using Zoom. All the participants are expected to have a computer with good internet access for the entire duration of the training.
