Simera Sense seeks a highly organised and detail-oriented individual to join its team as a Configuration Manager. In this role, the selected candidate will create, verify, and structure the Configuration Items (CIs) registered on the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) System. The primary objective of the Configuration Manager will be to ensure the integrity of the data created, including verifying all linked metadata, links, and references to support traceability in a controlled and auditable context.

Key Performance Areas and Responsibilities
  1. Communicate necessary configuration management system enhancements or changes to the ICT department.
  2. Ensure training and buy-in from the following customers on implementation and updates of configuration processes:
    1. Development
    2. Production
    3. Project management
    4. Systems engineering
  3. Ensure unique identification of all CIs and that revision control is maintained.
  4. Ensure correct implementation of the review and approval process.
  5. Support a traceable audit trail by assigning appropriate status/es in PLM.
  6. Ensure the integrity of the configured metadata and relationships within PLM.
  7. Link or verify the linking of documentation and data to the System Breakdown Structure (SBS).
  8. Maintain baselines in collaboration with the Design Owner and System/Process Engineer (SE).
  9. Support the Engineering Change Control process by assessing risks and impacts on other CIs.
  10. Support in planning CI deliverables.
  11. Attend requests/enquiries/issues raised by stakeholders.
  12. Manage the distribution of controlled information according to the process.
  13. Verify all information in the Data/Document Record Index (DRI) and Master Record Index (MRI) reports.
  14. Prepare DRI and MRI reports for review.
  15. Confirm the completeness of baselines.
  16. Report on undelivered, late documentation as identified by the DRI or PMP.
  17. Interface with the CM functions of suppliers and contractors.
  18. Support CM audits and assessments.
  19. Audit metadata entered into PLM, report errors/issues, and make corrections where necessary.
  20. Check the metadata of newly created document records and ensure that metadata, relationships, and files are entered and correct.
  21. Report data quality issues and escalate critical errors to the Operations Manager.
  22. Report on metadata, relationships, or issues to the ICT department.
  23. Track and control review-, acceptance-, and approval workflows in PLM.
  24. Implement configuration management where gaps exist within the implemented system.
  25. Automate configuration management by planning and executing automation algorithms or providing automation requests to the ICT Department for implementation.
Required Qualifications and Experience

The minimum formal qualification required for the role is a National Diploma in Engineering or Certification in Configuration Management.

The type of work experience required for the role is:

  1. Five years experience in Configuration Management within a high-tech environment.
  2. Three years experience working on PLM, preferably Siemens Teamcenter.

Special requirements for this role are:

  1. Willing to roll out new configuration management systems over weekends as required.
  2. Willing to take the lead on implementing the configuration management system.
