The American Geophysical Union is now accepting abstracts for their 2019 Fall Meeting which is holding from the 9th-13th of  December 2019  in San Francisco to inspire the future of science and beyond.

Fall Meeting is the largest international Earth and space science meeting in the world. After two dynamic meetings in New Orleans and Washington, D.C., this time it has returned to the Moscone Center in San Francisco to celebrate the past and inspire the future during its Centennial.

Recurring extreme events in Africa, in the form of droughts, fires, storms, and their associated floods and landslides, have fueled food insecurity, destroyed critical infrastructure, caused loss of human lives ad suffering and degraded environmental quality and services. Nevertheless, in a world of increasing scientific capabilities, such phenomena have both been observed by orbiting environmental satellites and simulated using a wide range of physical models.

These have contributed to a growing body of data, tools, products, and services available to African decision-makers for addressing such challenges. In that context, the purpose of this session is to examine the impacts of recent  Earth Observation-related research efforts which help to address development challenges and promote societal benefit across the continent.

Submissions are welcome from researchers and practitioners focusing on how Earth Observation data are and can be used to address environmental and development challenges in Africa

Submission deadline is on Wednesday, 31st of July, 2019 23:59 EDT
