The United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) and the Government of Japan, in cooperation with the Kyushu Institute of Technology (Kyutech), invites students from developing countries to apply for its Post-Graduate Study on Nano-Satellite Technologies (PNST) Fellowship Programme. The PNST programme contributes to expanding access to space through hands-on education in satellite development. With access to unique testing facilities and the rich nanosatellite development experience at Kyutech, students learn about the entire life cycle of satellite development and participate in practical activities.
According to the UNOOSA Director Aarti Holla-Maini, “We are pleased to open another round of PNST to provide this hands-on extensive educational opportunity to students from developing nations. We are proud to see the achievements of the fellows in accelerating their national and regional space activities and look forward to welcoming more bright and young future leaders in space to join PNST and gain this invaluable experience.”

Requirements
- Be nationals of developing countries or non-space-faring nations (countries without an established substantial capability to develop space technology/launch space objects);
- Be duly nominated by their institutions;
- Born on or after 2 April 1989;
- Should have the academic and professional background required by the specific fellowship programme. Candidates seeking a Master’s degree are expected to have completed studies ending with a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in engineering-related subjects;
- Candidates seeking a Doctorate are expected to have completed studies ending with a Master’s Degree or equivalent in engineering-related subjects. The Selection Committee can consider degrees in different technological fields and
- Be able to make professional use of the experience gained in the fellowship programme.
UNOOSA commits to achieving a 50/50 gender balance in its programme and ensuring a balanced representation. As a result, this programme intends to select three male and female students for the fellowship.
How to Apply
Interested applicants are first to complete the electronic registration form using the electronic registration form. After the registration, applicants will receive a confirmation email with the link to download the .doc versions of the application forms.
Applicants are to submit the fully completed application form and other necessary documents electronically to the web address in the confirmation email. However, this requirement does not extend to the referee report forms.

Applicants must submit completed application forms by 23:59 JST, 5 January 2024.
