The Kenya Space Agency (KSA) has announced its second edition of the Kenya Space Expo and Conference 2024, themed “Space Technologies for Societal Benefits”, which will be hosted at the Edge Convention Centre, Nairobi, from 18 to 20 June 2024. The event will focus on using space science, technology, and applications to improve quality of life and enable socio-economic development.
Furthermore, the event will bring together representatives from government, academia, industry, professionals, and international organisations to discuss utilising space applications to address societal needs and showcase space technologies and applications in socio-economic development. The conference aims to raise awareness about the practicality of exploring and utilising space opportunities for societal advancement and national socioeconomic growth. This will be achieved by highlighting successful case studies and innovative applications during the event.
Expected Outcomes
The KSEC 2024 is expected to deepen understanding and appreciation of the advantages of exploring and leveraging outer space opportunities for Kenya’s socioeconomic progress. It will serve as a platform for interaction, idea exchange, and networking, fostering collaboration and innovation. The expected outcomes include the following:
- Identify use cases of space-based applications and tools for sustainability socio-economic development and addressing societal challenges;
- Enhanced awareness of the socio-economic benefits of space science and technology;
- Promotion of development of local and regional space industry;
- Opportunities for collaboration, cooperation, and establishment of linkages for the growth of the domestic space sector;
- Appreciation of essential policy, statutory, and regulatory frameworks necessary for a vibrant and viable space sector;
- Foster understanding of approaches for developing national space capability.
How to Register
Interested participants and delegates must register here. The registration fee is USD 56 (KSh 7,500) for the entire three-day event (or USD 28 (KSh 3,000) per day) and USD 7 (KSh 1,000) for students with valid school ID cards. Non-residents are required to pay a registration fee of USD 100.
