The next edition of the MeerKAT Conference, themed Celebrating transformational science, engineering, and human capacity development, is set to hold from 20th to 23rd February 2024 at Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Study (STIAS), Stellenbosch, South Africa.
2024 marks five years since the first MeerKAT science paper; thus, the MeerKAT@5 conference aims to celebrate the telescope’s achievements in scientific, engineering, and human capacity development.
The conference will include invited and contributed presentations on high-impact MeerKAT science results, as well as invited presentations on topics including:
- The innovative engineering required to deliver the instrument;
- The history of the project and its broader impact; and
- The outlook of the future of radio astronomy on the African continent.
Call for Abstracts
The conference team is accepting abstract submissions from interested attendees. Prospective attendees who wish to make an oral contribution to MeerKAT science results should submit their abstracts by 20 August 2023 via this form. The SOC will announce accepted contributions in September 2023.
The conference is an onsite event with a projected maximum capacity of ~150 delegates. As such, registration for the conference will open once accepted contributions are announced. Further information will be shared in a future announcement.
