Call for Participation: Regional Workshop on Space Regulations

The Regional Centre for Remote Sensing of North African States (CRTEAN) is organising an online workshop on Space Regulations under the theme “Key Essentials of Space Regulation: Toward a Comprehensive Legal Framework for Space Activities”. This event will advance the discussion on national space law development within the African continent.

Workshop Objectives

This one-day virtual workshop will address critical aspects of space regulation, including:

  1. Identifying fundamental components that should be included in any national space legislation
  2. Examining international legal frameworks and standards guiding the peaceful and sustainable use of outer space
  3. Assessing the current status and emerging trends of space law and policy in Africa
  4. Exploring the legal implications of advanced satellite systems, including Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS)
  5. Discussing legal and policy challenges related to orbital debris and sustainable space operations
  6. Strengthening regional cooperation in aligning national legal frameworks with international space law principles
