ESSTI Extends Registration for Aerospace 2nd and 3rd Degree Programmes

The Ethiopian Space Science and Technology Institute (ESSTI) is now accepting applications in the following academic disciplines

• 3rd degree in Aerospace Engineering;
• 2nd degree in Space Engineering; and
• 2nd degree in aeronautic engineering.

This request comes after ESSTI, in collaboration with Addis Ababa Science and Technology University, accepted training in Aerospace Engineering and completed the programme to teach applicants in 2nd and 3rd degrees of education. Consequently, the applicants are to meet the following requirements to register for these programmes;

For the MSC programme

• The applicant must have completed an aeronautical engineering Bachelor of Science degree or related field. Related fields may include aerospace/ space engineering/ mechanical/ electromechanical/ electrical engineering. Furthermore, they require a minimum CGPA of 2.75 for males and 2.5 for females at the university. The result can also be from any other recognized institution of higher learning. In addition, the department shall decide the related fields while announcing the program if there is any other related field that is not in the curriculum;
• A minimum of two letters of recommendation;
• Sponsorship letter for applicants from its sponsoring institution/organization.
• Statement of motivation/purpose;
• Foreign applicants, in lieu of sitting for the entrance examination, shall submit minimum results of GRE 250/340 or TOEFL 75/120 or IELTS 5/9 or equivalent English proficiency examination, for applicants whose medium of instruction in their previous study was not English. Furthermore, for applicants whose medium of instruction in their previous study was English, the applicants shall provide the medium of instruction evidence from the previous institute of higher learning; likewise
• The applicant shall score a minimum of 50% in written and/or oral entrance examinations.

For the PhD programme

• The applicant must have completed a Master’s degree in aerospace engineering or related field (aeronautical/ space/ mechanical/ electromechanical/ electrical engineering) from an accredited institution of higher learning by thesis rated at least “good”;
• A minimum of two letters of recommendation;
• Sponsorship letter for applicants from its sponsoring institution/organization.
• Statement of motivation/purpose;
• A concept note with a maximum of five pages, and it should align with the university’s centre of excellence thematic areas;
• Foreign applicants may, in lieu of sitting for the entrance examination, shall submit minimum results of GRE 250/340 or TOEFL 75/120 or IELTS 5/9 or equivalent, language proficiency examination, for applicants whose medium of instruction in their previous study was not English. For applicants whose medium of instruction in their previous study was English, the applicants shall provide the medium of instruction evidence from the previous institute of higher learning; and lastly
• The applicant shall score a minimum of 50% in written and/or oral entrance examinations.

Common requirements

• Original degree document with 2 photocopies;
• To complete their course with a deadline set by the institute; likewise
• Can send an official transcript from their graduated universities

In addition, ESSTI will announce the entrance examination dates on the institute’s website address, Facebook and office notice board.
