The International Astronautical Congress (IAC) has announced a deadline extension for abstract submission in response to numerous requests and due to the increased interest. The new deadline is 10 March 2023 (23:59 CET)
The Call for Abstracts for the International Astronautical Congress 2023 (IAC 2023) is a precursor to a subsequent submission of a final paper, which may be presented at the 74th IAC. In addition, authors are invited to submit an abstract regarding an original paper that has not been published in any other forum.Â
Furthermore, submitting an abstract allows you to be creative in visually sharing your presentation as either an oral or interactive presentation. It is an opportunity to present your work to a broad international audience, gain experience giving talks, and earn recognition for your research progress. All selected papers will be treated as equally important in the presentation sessions and congress proceedings, differing only in the format of the presentation sessions. Please refer to the characteristics of the two types of presentations as described in the Abstract Submission FAQ.
In addition, abstracts must be submitted through the IAF platform and fit into the following categories:
- Science and Exploration – Systems sustaining missions, including life, microgravity, space exploration, space debris, and Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence (SETI);
- Applications and Operations – On-going and future operational applications, including earth observation, communication, navigation, human space endeavours and small satellites;
- Technology – Common technologies to space systems, including astrodynamics, structures, power and propulsion;
- Infrastructure – Systems sustaining space missions, including space system transportation, future systems and safety; and
- Space and Society – Interaction of space with society, including education, policy and economics, history and law, space security and sustainability, space arts, planetary defence and NEO.
Applicants preparing an abstract for the first time who need guidance on submitting a successful abstract for the IAC may watch this tutorial. In addition, authors of selected abstracts will get their work published in the conference proceedings and the IAF Digital Library, the world’s largest online repository on space, counting more than 50,000 papers.
