The South African National Space Agency (SANSA) is offering an internship in the Space Science Directorate in the following areas of specialisation: Mathematical Sciences; Computer Science; Science Education; Physics; Mathematics; Space Science.

SANSA runs an Internship Programme where unemployed graduates and postgraduates are offered opportunities to acquire practical work experience through mentoring, coaching and exposure to a research environment in the Science, Engineering and Technology fields. Unemployed graduates and postgraduates interested in research management, research support and administration may also apply for this opportunity.

Internship opportunity

SANSA has the following internship opportunity in the Space Science Directorate situated in Hermanus, Western Cape, for enthusiastic, hardworking South African citizens in the following areas of specialisation or disciplines: Mathematical Sciences; Computer Science; Science Education; Physics; Mathematics; Space Science;

Eligibility for appointment of interns 

 The minimum requirements for placement of a candidate are as follows:

  • Should be 35 years of age or younger at the time of applying;
  • Hold a completed National Diploma qualification as a minimum in one of the above above-mentioned planes
  • Be a South African citizen or South African Permanent Resident (with a valid South African Identity Document).

Remuneration

The Intern will be paid a monthly stipend according to their level of qualification as follows:

  • R5 697 for a National Diploma (in-service training completed)
  • R 6 404 for a Bachelors’ Degree/Advanced Diploma /BTech at;
  • R 7 121 for an Honours’ /Post Graduate Diploma/BTech; and
  • R 8 493 for a Masters/ MTech at NQF.

Background verification, including criminal record, credit checks, security clearances, qualification and citizenship checks, as well as competency assessment and psychometric testing, may form part of the selection process.
