The Las Cumbres Observatory (LCO) is inviting clubs experienced in astronomical observations and interested in research projects to its Global Sky Clubs programme. The programme offers interested clubs access to LCO’s network of robotic telescopes and educational resources. However, clubs without astronomy-related experience are encouraged to contact one of Global Sky’s partners for tailored-suited programmes.

Benefits

Interested clubs will get ten hours of telescope network time to observe celestial objects such as nebulae, variable stars, and exoplanets. In addition, clubs will be trained with LCO’s observatory portal, open-source data and analysis platforms.

Furthermore, interested clubs will become part of other astronomy-related clubs globally and will hold monthly discussions, share expertise and showcase results.

Eligibility

Any school with astronomy or science-related clubs organised in an educational setting are encouraged to apply.

Dates

The programme is slated for either 1 February or 1 August and will run for six months. Interested clubs can apply to continue the programme after the elapsed six months; however, admission is not guaranteed.
