Requirements

Candidates must meet the following qualifications and experience criteria:

1. Academic Background: PhD in stellar astrophysics, awarded within the last five years.
2. Research Focus: Demonstrated current research interest and experience in stellar astrophysics.
3. Technical Skills: Familiarity with optical telescopes, including experience with optical telescope data collection and analysis.

Job Description

The postdoctoral fellow will undertake research and publication activities within stellar astrophysics, with possible additional involvement in exoplanet research. Responsibilities include:

1. Research Output: Publishing research findings in stellar astrophysics, with the possibility of extending research into related areas like exoplanet science.
2. Telescope Operations: Active participation in managing and operating 20-inch and 16-inch optical telescopes on campus.
3. Data Collection: Utilising South African optical telescopes for data acquisition, emphasising accessing national telescope facilities to enhance research.
