The South African Agency for Science and Technology Advancement (SAASTA), South African Astronomical Observatory (SAAO), the African Astronomical Society (AfAS) and the International Astronomical Union General Assembly (IAU-GA) Outreach and Education Committee invite interested candidates aged between 13 and 14 from all African countries to participate in the AstroQuiz Africa 2024.
About AstroQuiz Africa 2024
AstroQuiz Africa offers an exceptional chance for students to participate in an intellectually stimulating competition featuring five rounds of astronomical challenges. The initial four rounds will see students from each country competing for top honours, demonstrating their expertise and enthusiasm for astronomy. The climax of the competition, the fifth and final round, will unite the most brilliant minds from every participating country.
Furthermore, engaging in AstroQuiz Africa offers a range of fantastic prizes for both individual accomplishments and national acknowledgement. More than just prizes, this event acts as a catalyst for advancing scientific excellence and fostering a new generation of aspiring astronomers and scientists throughout Africa.
How to Participate
To participate, candidates need a mobile phone with basic data connectivity to access the ZAstronomy app, which is compatible with Android and iOS devices, ensuring accessibility for diverse users. Once the app is downloaded, participants can easily register for the quiz directly within the application.
Through the ZAstronomy app, participants can access comprehensive resources, study materials, and practice quizzes to help prepare for the main event. Furthermore, participants will receive additional informative videos and updates to assist them in registering and offering insights into the quiz format and topics.
