The Fifth Middle East and Africa Regional IAU Meeting


The International Astronomical Union (IAU), on behalf of the Regional Center for Space Science and Technology Education for Western Asia/United Nations (RCSSTE-WA) and the Arab Union for Astronomy and space sciences (AUASS), is inviting participants for the Fifth Middle-East and Africa Regional IAU Meeting (MEARIM V 2020) titled “Astronomy education and research for the future generations”, which will be held at the period November 10-12, 2020. In light of the continued impact of COVID-19 the meeting will be held through the virtual platform of the RCSSTE-WA using the ZOOM app.

Topics for the Meeting are:

1. Optical and Radio Telescopes.
2. Stellar Structure and Galaxies.
3. Cosmology and the Latest Observations.
4. Planetarium Systems in Education.
5. Solar System, Near-Earth Object.
6. Exoplanets.
7. Space Weather.
8. Multi-messenger Tracers in Astrophysics: Electromagnetic Waves, Cosmic Rays, Neutrinos, and Gravitational Waves.
9. Best Practices in Public Outreach Using Social Media for
Public Engagement with Astronomy.
10. Astronomy and Climate Change.
11. Astronomy Communication to Promote Peace and
Bridging Cultures.
