ASTRO ACCEL invites early career researchers (ECR) interested in connecting with other researchers and practitioners in astronomy education, engagement, communication and culture to join its global network for accelerating synergies through research on astronomy in culture, communication, teaching and learning.

Furthermore, the organisation seeks eight individuals to join the ASTRO ACCEL ECR Cohort. This will be a two-year commitment. As part of the cohort, participants will:

  • Engage with other ECRs, senior researchers, and practitioners to evolve international research collaborations;
  • Expand your professional network;
  • Engage in professional development activities to support advancement in your career (virtual and in-person);
  • Participate in research on network development and implementation and explore needs specific to ECRs;
  • Have opportunities to contribute as your time permits and is appropriate to a white paper on ECR needs and other research publications;
  • Receive travel support to attend and participate in two international summits. The first Summit will occur in Cape Town, South Africa, on August 4 – 5, 2024, ahead of the International Astronomical Union’s General Assembly Meeting. The second Summit location and date is YTBD.

ASTRO ACCEL is a three-year National Science Foundation (NSF) funded transformative project that will result in a sustained global network of collaborators working within and across domains to accelerate research and research to practice.
