The African Union and the European Union are co-organising the first edition of the Africa-Europe Week between 14-18 February 2022, in the run-up to the 6th AU-EU summit. The event will gather various stakeholder events and activities to raise awareness and boost visibility around the 6th EU-AU Summit and Africa-EU Partnership. In addition, the event will host the launch of the second phase of the Joint AU-EU GMES and Africa Programme.
Furthermore, the Africa-Europe week aims to strengthen the links that connect people from both continents. Also, it is a platform by and for stakeholders to discuss and show what they deem essential for the future Africa-EU Partnership. Similarly, events, sessions, workshops, and exhibitions will encourage connections and synergies among stakeholder groups to discuss strategic priorities. The event will be a crucial moment to bring together young people, civil society and the private sector from Africa and Europe to discuss the aspects of the Africa-EU Partnership that matter to them the most.Â

The EU-Africa Business Forum is a hybrid event co-organised by the European Commission, the African Union Commission, as well as EU and African business organisations, the forum will happen from 14 to 18 February online and from 16 to 17 February at The Square, Brussels (subject to COVID restrictions). The Youth Track of the Africa-Europe Week brings together young people from Africa, Europe and the diaspora to contribute to the future of the EU-Africa Partnership. The programme includes a series of events before the start of the Week (as of 7th February), events during the Youth Day (14th February) and the gathering of Youth Rapporteurs who will bring together the joint outcomes of the Youth Track (15th February). African and European Civil Society and Local Authorities have prepared two forums on a way forward towards ‘Participatory and transparent governance: A people-centred approach’ for the African-European partnership. The programme includes joint opening and closing sessions, which will concentrate on the role of CSOs and LAs in the collaboration and two dedicated forums that will focus on more specific themes and topics. Sessions are designed to be inclusive and interactive; they will support meaningful exchanges to forge key messages and recommendations on a collective and constructive future for both continents.
During the Africa-Europe Week, the Cultural Track will stimulate intercultural dialogue and exchanges on cultural relations between Africa and Europe. From 14th to 18th February 2022, a variety of cultural activities (workshops, debates, film screenings, concerts etc.) will be an integral part of the Africa-Europe Week and link closely with culture-related events under the youth and Civil Society/Local authorities components, as well as the EU-Africa Business Forum with its creative solid industries dimension. Furthermore, the Cultural Track will be an opportunity for African and European artists to show their performances and co-productions and debate the cultural dimension of the AU-EU partnership and further develop the future of Africa-Europe cultural relations.
