There is a vacancy for a one-year postdoctoral research assistant in cosmology and radio astronomy at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), South Africa.
The successful candidate will work on large-scale structure data analysis and 21-cm data analysis. He/she will have the opportunity to be part of world-leading experiments such as Vera C Rubin Observatory (LSST), Hydrogen Epoch Reionization Array (HERA) and MeerKAT data. This position is available in the School of Chemistry and Physics and the Astrophysics Research Centre of UKZN, which hosts first-class research groups in cosmology and radio astronomy. The extension of the position depends on fund availability and performance.
Qualification
- The successful applicant should have a PhD in astronomy, cosmology, or equivalent courses and possess research skills in some of the areas specified above.
- Experience in similar types of data analysis is desirable but not essential, and we will consider applicants with a broad range of skills.
- The successful applicant will be required to work effectively as part of a large international team.
