On 31 March 2023, the Russian Embassy, in collaboration with Ethiopia’s Space Science and Geospatial institute (SSGI), Addis Ababa Science and Technology University (AASTU), Gagarin Research and Test Cosmonaut Training Centre, Association of Economic Cooperation with African States (AECAS) will host a public lecture, with Sergei Kud-Sverchkov, a Roscosmos Cosmonaut and space engineer as the guest speaker. The lecture will be held at Addis Ababa Science and Technology University at 10:00 am (East Africa time).
Sergei Kud-Sverchkov performed his spaceflight in 2020 and spent 185 days aboard the International Space Station as a flight engineer for ISS Expedition 63/64. During the lecture, the space engineer will discuss space technologies and his life experiences above the earth.
About Sergei Kud-Sverchkov
Born in 1983, Sergei Kud-Sverchkov enrolled at Moscow university after completing his high school education. In 2006, he graduated with an Honors diploma in rocket engine specialisation. Upon graduating, he worked for Roscosmos as an engineer contributing to the International Space Station Programme from 2006-2010. After that tenure, he trained for ten years to prepare for his expedition, the ISS-64. He then spent six months working aboard the International Space Station with his colleagues from Japan and the USA. The Soyuz crew returned to Earth on 17 April 2021. Sergei Kud-Sverchkov wears many hats as an engineer, cosmonaut, explorer, philanthropist and populariser of science.
